SINGAPORE INDIAN EDUCATION TRUST DATA PROTECTION NOTICE

 

  1. COLLECTION OF PERSONAL DATA

 

The Singapore Indian Education Trust (“SIET”) helps needy and deserving Indians in Singapore advance in their education by providing financial assistance to them, including processing applications for the administering of loans and/or bursaries (“Financial Assistance”). To do so, SIET will necessarily need to collect, use, disclose and/or process certain personal data about the individual and other relevant third parties that he/she has submitted via an application for study loans or bursary awards (“Applicant”).

Personal Data provided to SIET will be kept confidential but the Applicant consents to SIET providing and/or disclosing his/her Personal Data to the following parties:

 

 

 

 

  1. PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA

 

To safeguard the Applicant’s personal data from unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or similar risks, SIET has introduced appropriate administrative, physical and technical measures such as up-to-date antivirus protection, encryption and the use of privacy filters to secure all storage and transmission of personal data by SIET, and disclosing personal data both internally and to SIET’s authorised third party service providers and agents only on a need-to-know basis. The Applicant should be aware, however, that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While security cannot be guaranteed, SIET strives to protect the security of the Applicant’s information and are constantly reviewing and enhancing its information security measures.

 

  1. APPLICANT’S RIGHT OF ACCESS AND CORRECTION

 

If the Applicant has any questions relating to SIET’s collection, use, disclosure or processing of his/her personal data

 

(including a request of access to and/or correction of his/her personal data) the Applicant may contact the Data Protection Officer, Ms Parul at sieto@singnet.com.sg or call +65 62962855 or such other person as SIET may designate from time to time.

 

 

SIET may retain the Applicant’s personal data for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, or as required or permitted by applicable laws.

 

SIET will cease to retain the Applicant’s personal data, or remove the means by which the data can be associated with the Applicant, as soon as it is reasonable to assume that such retention no longer serves the purpose for which the personal data was collected, and is no longer necessary for legal or business purposes.
